Very nice crate, easy to assemble. Just the right size for my Yorkie that is 10" tall and 9" long (weight 6 lbs.). He has room to stretch out and turn around in comfort. Light weight, very roomy. I highly suggest a fleece pet bed liner, makes it warm and comfy.
I knew the type of crate I wanted, I had borrowed this exact model from a friend when we got our puppy. It's perfect for crate training and for traveling. My only issue with it is that my four year old son keeps unlatching the side latches, so if you put the puppy in the crate and pick it up without checking, 1/2 of the crate will fall to the ground along with your pet. If you don't have a four year old who likes to "undo" everything, then it shouldn't be a problem!
This carrier is just right for our oversize cat. Service and delivery was prompt as well.
The other reviews posted are right on target. There is plenty of ventilation; it assembles and disassembles quick and easy; it's easy to clean; the carrier itself is light so when you put your pet in it, it's not too heavy to carry. I like how Petmate makes the carriers in size stages because while our puppy was growing, we were able to buy the next size up as needed. However, when I thought we bought our "final" carrier, he grew a bit more. He turned out to be taller and longer than typical dogs his breed, and the largest carrier is a bit too cramped for him. Petmate didn't have the size we needed so we had to buy one from another brand/company. It took some searching but I did find one that is comparable in quality and features. My opinion: I highly recommend this carrier.
Rambo is 18.5 years old. That's roughly 93 in human. As a kitten, he earned his name and he's not yet ready to give it up--even if it hurts him to fight us coming out of his carrier at his once a week vet visits for pain meds.
The Petmate carrier is great for Rambo because all we have to do is pop the sides. Our vet can check him and give him his shots, which causes a lot less pain and stress for an old man cat who's well earned some respect and dignity.
The carrier is also lightweight, so it doesn't add significantly to Rambo's 12 pounds when he's being carried up the stairs or across a parking lot into the vet's office. I suspect we'll probably replace our other three carriers with the Petmates because they are well worth the expense for our spoiled pets. |
