This product was a tad misleading. I assumed it would be a how to guide for modern/party dancing/club dancing. It was more of a guide to dancing the foxtrot and other traditional party dances taught by an older gentleman that I doubt ever visited a club. I was disappointed but it still helped me get more comfortable with dancing.
I would recommend renting this dvd from the library instead of purchasing a copy. Mr.Pozo shows you how to do the steps to the fox trot one time and it's on to the waltz. You have to constantly go back and pause the dvd to learn the steps. I was very disappointed.
Yes, Cal Pozo is a very likeable man. Yes, the cover is VERY misleading. However I have to admit that the dvd gives exactly what is written on the back in the fine print, only Cal Pozo's idea of a party is a little different than mine (and probably yours). Do you like Lawrence Welk? You will love this tape. If you have no knowledge of how to dance, zip, zero - this tape will increase your technique 100%. I actually liked it.
I am actually learning to dance some of the stuff my wife loves on that blasted "Dancing with the Stars." I really did learn the basic steps for the Mambo in less than a half hour. We put a CD on that has appropriate music and just pause the DVD to practice. There is no club music type dancing and the cover is misleading but the dances it teaches are timeless (except for the Macarena, cheese!)
Ok, I'm sure Cal Pozo is a good guy and a great instructor but the cover is WAY TOO MISLEADING!!! Don't be fooled thinking that there is anyone under 50 associated with this DVD in any way, shape or form. There are a couple of steps that you might find useful but for the most part the rest is useless unless you plan on taking a senior cruise anytime soon. If you're looking for a Lawrence Welk experience (Not meant as a shot) then by all means pick it up you won't be disappointed... but for anything else... stay away.
